LONGITUDE : 1.45 E
The pressure waves generated by several discrete explosions spread out in the earth’s atmosphere and were picked up after approx. 36 minutes, 625 km away by the stations of the I26DE infrasound array which were being installed at the time in the Bavarian Forest (previous designation: GIS0 – GIS3).

The direction and speed of the recorded infrasound signals can be determined from the four stations of the array laid out in a configuration extending up to 2 km from the centre (figure left). The results of the frequency wave number analysis determined the signal energy maximum marked in yellow, which has an azimuth of 312.3 degrees. This corresponds to the source of the explosion located to the north-west of the array. Source: BGR
